Get the Cellsnitch Downloader from Android Market, use it to download and install the application.
You may uninstall Cellsnitch Downloader afterwards, as it is used only for the purpose of downloading Cellsnitch (and may therefore give away its presence if you keep it in the phone).
App access & personal dialcode
On a new installation, tap the SysUtil icon in the phone launcher to access Cellsnitch. The application generates a custom dialcode for the handset and deletes the icon from the launcher. From then on, the only way to access Cellsnitch settings is via the dialcode.
Important You should note down this code, as it must be used for further access to the settings on that particular phone.
Registered users who somehow forgot their dialcode can look it up online, in their customer account.
Settings
On new installations, Cellsnitch is inactive and doesn't monitor anything.
You will need to set your preferences for logging and alerts.
Settings → Activity
Check the type of communications you would like Cellsnitch to log:
SMS and/or calls.
And for each of them:
Outgoing and/or incoming
Settings → Activities & auto-restart
When selected, Cellsnitch will also log the following activities:
Date, time and name of newly installed apps.
Browser history: a list of the visited websites.
Google searches: a list of the terms searched on Google from the handset
Additionally, Cellsnitch can also be set to auto-restart by itself when stopped by the system, or by another app (such as 'tasks killers'.)
Settings → Send logs by SMS
Check SMS alerts if you want the monitored phone to send you the logs by SMS in real-time.
Please note:
Regular SMS fees will apply for the monitored handset. Check the cellphone operator's plan for the cost.
Cellsnitch sends SMS invisibly, and they do not appear in the phone's outbox / sent messages.
You can send logs by SMS, email, or both.
Settings → SMS logs: Recipient
Enter the number of the phone where the SMS logs should be sent.
Settings → Send logs by Email
Cellsnitch can also send the logs by email, using a Gmail account.
Please note:
While this isn't mandatory, we recommend you use a Gmail account dedicated to that purpose.
Unlike SMS, email logs are not 'real-time', as they are dependent on the handset having a data connection (3G, WiFi, etc). Cellsnith will attempt to send the logs based on that requirement and the schedule you set in the preferences.
Settings → Email logs → Gmail user
Enter the Gmail address you want to use.
Settings → Email logs → Gmail password
Enter the password for that account.
Why does Cellsnitch need the password?
As of the current version, this is the only way for Cellsnitch to send you the logs without leaving traces in the handsets' outbox (sent message log).
If you feel uncomfortable with that, we recommend you create a dedicated Gmail address, that you may use exclusively for that purpose.
Settings → Location
Cellsnitch can also log the phone position, and send you its geographical coordinates, allowing you to trace its movements and location.
Settings → Location → Frequency
Set a schedule for the location log—this is independent from the SMS and call log frequency.
Settings → Location → Distance
Set the minimum distance interval for the location log. In other word, the location will only be reported if the handset moved at least over the selected distance.
Full version → Registration
In demo mode, Cellsnitch only notifies you that 'something happened'. You must buy a license to receive the full logs:
Follow the post-purchase instructions to assign it to the desired device via your customer account.
Enter your registration number in the application.
Full version → Activated
In registered & activated mode, Cellsnitch records the details and/or content of the logged events—and send them according to the settings & schedule you set.
